Are you single and in your thirties? Are you tired of folks telling you that you need to get on with it or you’ll be put on the shelf? Telling you that if you want to start a family, you should hurry up? Or that you’re being choosy and that there’s something seriously wrong with you? Well I’m in the same boat. But, as a four-year-old blissfully single girl, I’m going to tell you about the good, the bad, and the ugly of Online Dating in your 30s. After all, there are many advantages to online dating in your 30s as opposed to your 20s.
The Benefits of Online Dating
Most women have a firm notion of what they want in life, professionally, personally, and romantically, by the time they reach their 30s. It’s a terrific moment to be selfish now more than ever.
You know what you want and what you are not willing to accept, as horrible as it sounds. Are you looking for someone to be the center of your universe? Most likely not. Or would you prefer someone to help you make the most of the wonderful life you already have? Perhaps a tad more probable.
You’ve probably figured out what you want from online dating at this time. Maybe you’re happily single, or maybe you’re seeking a long-term relationship, marriage, children, a dog, the works.
It’s possible, on the other side, that you’re seeking something more informal, someone, to talk to, or something completely different! Whatever it is, you will prioritize yourself in a manner you may not have done in your twenties.
Have you been offered a promotion at your place of employment? It’s the job of your dreams. What’s more, guess what? You don’t have to think twice before responding with a resounding yes! It is a significant time and energy commitment that may need some travel and even time relocation. You can live the life you want without having to worry about what other people think.
What’s more, do you know what’s even better? There are plenty more fish in the sea, and you can find online dating almost anywhere.
All you want to do maybe spend time with your friends. You can be the master of your destiny, whether it’s a ladies’ night out drinking over Zoom, an online quiz, or a night out dancing in the past. It’s possible that you’ll have to make a decision in your relationship since your partner wants you to spend time with their family. If you’re using online dating, you may simply put off meeting someone if it doesn’t work out. You gain the freedom and satisfaction of doing anything you want, whenever you want.
The Bad Side of Online Dating
Just because you’re in your thirties or about to be in your thirties doesn’t indicate that others who are online dating share your views. Maybe you’re looking for love and a place to call home. Finding someone who is honest can be tough. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that changes in your thirties. A buddy recently told me about someone she met online. She enjoys hiking, and the person with whom she was conversing agreed to accompany her on a mountain trip, stating that they too like trekking. When she asked where they had previously hiked, they replied, “I haven’t hiked before, but I am sure I would enjoy it.”
Why was he stating he enjoyed hiking when he had never done it before? Was it to appease her, or was there something else in mind? We’ll never know because she stopped talking to him shortly after that. In your thirties, you should be able to trust your instincts. While certain scenarios will be similar to those you encountered in your twenties, you should have the instinct and confidence to stop chatting to someone if something doesn’t feel right.
The Not so Good Side of Online Dating
It can be difficult to form a deeper relationship with someone in today’s swiping society. Unfortunately, in your thirties, you are just as disposable as you were in your twenties. Ghosting can still happen, and you might still be wounded, but you may have more at risk in your thirties. In a pandemic, though, there is a lot to be said about internet dating. Because you won’t be able to meet someone in the usual sense, you’ll have more time to get to know them on a deeper level. If they ghost you or play games with you, you’ll have time to figure out what’s going on, learn from it, and move on.
When it comes to online dating, the trick is to not put too much money into it too soon, regardless of your age. Make sure you’re talking to a number of possible suitors and that you’re not ruling off any possibilities. Matthew Hussey, who writes, speaks, and leads seminars for women about dating, finding love, and self-worth, is a terrific guy to learn from. In your thirties, online dating may be a minefield. However, all is not lost; while there are good, bad, and ugly aspects to it, your greatest advantage is the self-assurance and confidence that comes with age. Set your boundaries, and most importantly, look after yourself when it comes to online dating.
